Please answer my homework question that I'm not understanding!!?

Okay so, Mr. Krabs created a secret ingredients for a breath mint that he thinks will cure the bad breath people get after eating krabby patties at the Krusty Krab. He asked one hundred customers with a history of bad breath to try his new breath mint. He had 50 customers (group a) eat a breath mint after they finished eating a krabby pattie. the other 50 (group b) also got a breath after the ate but this one was a regular one that didnt have the the special ingredient. They both were told that they would get their bad breath cured. 2 hours later , 30 customers in group a said they had fresh breath, and 10 people in group b said they had fresh breath.

The dependent variable is the variable that changes because of the independent variable in the problem it is how many people had fresh breath. Controlls are things left the same they were that everyone only had one mint, they had to all wait 2 hours and everyone was told they would have fresh breath. The hypothesis could be… If people eat mr krabs breath mint then there bad breath will go away because his breath mints have a special ingredient. That should cover it all but mr krabs would never give them away for free.
